A Deeper Look
In a social media driven world, it is all too easy to become wrapped up in today’s idea of beauty. Whether it’s bold eyebrows, pouty lips, a shimmering highlight, or a slim waist. We forget that a large portion of the content we view is a filtered/photoshopped portrayal, of an individual possibly struggling with the same social pressures and self-doubt. By striving to fit the mold we forget how unique and beautiful our “flaws” truly are (YOU already have ALL you need).
Throughout my teenage years and entering my early twenties, I found myself chasing this ideal image of beauty, and in doing so neglecting the opportunities that mattered…sharpening my intellect. My free time consisted of YouTube makeup tutorials and online shopping (of course there’s nothing wrong with that…everything in moderation). I grew tired of spending my time and money on purchases that only brought a moment of satisfaction, and knew I had much more to offer this world than achieving a perfect eyebrow. I begin to explore my passion for natural skincare through researching, reading, and connecting with individuals in the industry. This is has led me to where I am today—providing natural skincare products to people all over America.
So, I say all this to say…let’s change things up! Instead of spending free time scrolling through newsfeeds, let’s take the time to write a list of goals or hobbies we wish to achieve/master this year. Or commit to attending an educational seminar of a topic that sparks our interest twice a month. This will motivate us all to continuously take the steps to reaching our goals!
Today’s blog serves as a reminder to begin analyzing what and who controls your actions, taking a more in depth look into a simple stop to your favorite beauty store to purchase a new shade of matte lipstick. Understanding the motivation behind your actions gives you the key to understanding yourself and how you view the world around you.
